Au-Pair in Ireland

Our Au pair program in Ireland offers the opportunity for candidates to practice their English language skills and learn about the traditional Irish culture, while taking care of children and doing some light housework.  Au pairs in this program usually work for 30 hours and have 2 days off per week (1 full day and 2 half days).  Short term positions in Ireland might also be available.

Required qualifications:

  • You are between 18 and 27 years old
  • You have a good basic knowledge of the English language
  • You have acquired sufficient experience in child care
  • You are prepared to adjust to your host family’s daily life
  • You know how to do daily housework
  • You would like to stay in Ireland as an au pair for 10 to 12 months

This Program provides:

  • Full board and accommodation
  • Pick-up from the airport by the host family
  • Welcome package (a “welcome call” from our staff, an information packet that will help you adjust to your new surroundings, and the names and phone numbers of other au pairs in your area)
  • Au pair meetings (when available)
  • Information on taking local English language classes (if the au pair is interested in attending)
  • Weekly pocket money of €90- €110 for approximately 30 hours of work
  • health insurance

For a complete application we need the following documents (in the English language):

  • The application form
  • A copy of your passport
  • 2 recent passport pictures
  • A recent medical certificate
  • A birth certificate (with a certified English translation)
  • A copy of your driver’s license (if you have one)
  • A criminal record check certificate
  • An English language evaluation certificate
  • A small photo album with family, friends, and children that you have taken care of
  • A “Dear host family” letter in English (explaining your family background, your experience with children, your motivation for the au pair program, your personality etc…)
  • 2 childcare references from families that you have worked for
  • 1 character reference from a former employer, teacher, pastor etc…
  • A copy of a secondary school diploma (with a certified translation in English)

Be a Nanny in Ireland

This program is designed for older candidates who have more childcare experience and have a higher fluency in speaking English than an au pair.  The minimum length of stay is one year. Nannies are usually employed formally by their host family, are entitled to minimum wage, and work full-time (40- 50 hours a week).  They take care of both the host family’s children and necessary housework.

The Nanny Program provides:

  • Full board and accommodation with
  • Pick-up from the airport by the host family
  • Full board and accommodation with the host family (€61.00 deducted weekly)                                                                           - live-out positions might also be available
  • Welcome package (a “welcome call” from our staff, an information packet that will help you adjust to your new surroundings, and the names and phone numbers of other au pairs in your area)
  • Information on taking local English language classes (if the au pair is interested in attending, or it is necessary)
  • 2 days off per week
  • Paid holidays (20 days per year)
  • A salary of at least €8.30 per hour
  • Other possible benefits depending on the family (i.e. - a mobile phone, transportation allowance, etc.)
